IBM laptops are renowned for their build quality, many can be dropped 3 feet (voiding the warranty of course) with only scratches to show for it. The laptop keyboard is second to none and compares with the mechanical key travel feel of a decent full keyboard. The battery life exceeds most rivals by a factor of 1.5 to 3x, especially when a second battery is added in the multibay extending life to 4-8 hours. They are 1/2 to 1 kilo lighter than comparable laptops from Toshiba, Compaq, HP, Dell and especially when compared with the cheaper budget laptops from non-brand names which often weigh in excess of 3kg, something you will notice if carried around a lot.
The IBM Thinkpad T20 was first introduced during Q1, 2001 at a suggested retail price of $3,699 (around £2,600).
